Kawartha Lakes Muskie Fishing: Pigeon Lake & Buckhorn Lake Rick Daniels' Muskie Fishing Charter & Guide Service Chemong Lake is one of the larger lakes of the Kawartha Lakes. It also receives the least amount of boat traffic and fishing pressure of all the Kawartha Lakes because it's not directly on the Trent Canal Waterway. As a result the Muskie population is high and the availability of feeder fish has produced some of the largest Muskie in all of the Kawarthas. Rick lives on the lake and has spent his whole life fishing Chemong Lake, Buckhorn Lake and Pigeon Lake. From their camp, you can fish all of Pigeon Lake and Buckhorn Lake for some of the best Muskie fishing Southern Ontario / Central Ontario has to offer. Pigeon Lake and Buckhorn Lake are shallow and weedy but still have open water so it's easy to troll for long distances beside heavy weed cover. Muskie are common in the 20 to 35-inch range. There are lots of Muskie in the 36 to 42 inch range but a little less frequent. On occasion Muskie around 50-inches get caught. There are Walleye and bass in the lake as well. From their camp, it's just a short distance to 2 of the hottest Muskie spots on Pigeon Lake. Muskie are common in the 20 to 35-inch range.
